Central Questions in (Sub-)millimeter Studies of the Early Universe in the 2040s

This presentation will review the state-of-the art in studies of early galaxy formation and evolution and large-scale structure, and the key questions that still remain largely unanswered. This will provide a basis for investigating what technical limitations prevent us from obtaining clearer answers, and which of them advances in (sub-)millimeter interferometry can address. The results from this investigation will then be checked against proposed upgrades to ALMA to help guide the ALMA2040 process.
