Extension of the Source catalogue for INTEGRAL/SPI with 22 Years of Data

The INTEGRAL (INTErnational Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory) satellite has been operating for 22 years from October 2002 until March 2025. The next step for the mission is the shift from observations to post-operations. As part of this effort, we present a pipeline for constructing astronomical catalogues from raw data of the SPectrometer on INTEGRAL (SPI), intended for use by the wider community in future research. The original SPI catalogue was created in 2008 with six years of data. Now, with 22 years of data, we can improve source sensitivity and create a more extensive catalogue. We also treat transient sources in a systematic way, extending the original 2008 catalogue. Here, we describe our approach of a whole-sky analysis, performed for predefined regions and time intervals. We present the methodology used for the reduction of raw SPI data, including the background treatment, the goodness of fit evaluation and our approach for source detection and characterization. Finally, we discuss the results of an initial application of the pipeline to archival data to test its efficacy. This catalogue will help identify MeV point sources measured with the future gamma-ray mission COSI.
