The Python framework cosipy, developed for the launch of the Compton Spectrometer and Imager (COSI), provides a wide range of astronomical methods for data analysis, including model fits and image reconstruction algorithms, both of which can be used for imaging. It was designed to be compatible with any Compton camera or future Compton telescope. We demonstrate the application of these imaging methods to simulated data for both COSI and a Compton camera intended for clearance measurements at former nuclear facilities in Germany. In the case of template fitting, a model consisting of a spatial and a spectral component is fitted to the data. In contrast, image reconstruction, for which we use adaptions to the Richardson-Lucy algorithm, offers an unbiased method of imaging, although it is also susceptible to artifacts. We demonstrate that cosipy's architecture is applicable to any MeV gamma-ray telescope / camera. This includes Compton and coded-mask apertures, and allows the joint analyses of observations from multiple instruments.
