The simulation of neutron star mergers poses a formidable computational physics challenge. We have recently developed a fully general relativistic formulation of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) that solves the full set of Einstein equations, this approach is implemented in the code SPHINCS_BSSN. I will explain the algorithmic/numerical challenges and how SPHINCS_BSSN addresses them.
