Payne module in 4MOST Galactic pipeline and results for SPV

As one of the modules processing stellar spectra in the 4MOST Galactic pipeline, the Payne module derives stellar atmospheric parameters and abundances for 21 elements from both low- and high-resolution spectra. In this talk, I will present the development and current performance of the module, with particular emphasis on the line-masking strategy adopted to improve the robustness of full-spectrum fitting. I will then discuss recent applications to SPV data, which provide an important test of the pipeline under realistic observing conditions. These results allow us to assess the precision, accuracy, and systematic behaviour of the derived stellar labels. Comparisons with reference samples, internal repeat observations, and tests on star clusters demonstrate the current strengths of the method, while also highlighting regimes where further calibration and refinement are required. Finally, I will outline the remaining challenges toward DR0 and DR1 processing. These developments are essential for ensuring that 4MOST delivers scientifically reliable stellar parameters and abundances for mapping the structure, chemistry, and evolution of the Milky Way.
