(M)HD modelling of pre- and post-SNeII environments in young massive clusters

Many Type II SNe occur in young massive clusters (YMCs), where the SN progenitor’s circumstellar medium (CSM) may be pressure-confined and photoionized by the strong stellar winds and intense radiation fields of nearby OB and Wolf-Rayet stars. These effects can modify the CSM density structure on parsec scales close to the star, producing dense shells and asymmetries which will strongly influence the SN shock propagation in the first few tens to hundreds of years post-explosion. In this talk, I will present 3D HD simulations of RSG nebulae in YMCs, showing how the collective wind of the YMC can confine material and produce an asymmetric CSM. I will also show 3D MHD simulations of young core-collapse SN remnants, which demonstrate how external photoionization produces a dense outer region where the main sequence stellar bubble would otherwise be.
