Exploring the Temperature Dependence of Intrinsic Scatter in the Galaxy Cluster X-ray Luminosity–Temperature Relation

The intrinsic scatter of the X-ray luminosity–temperature relation provides insight into the thermodynamical diversity of the intracluster medium and the impact of non-gravitational processes such as radiative cooling and AGN feedback. In this ongoing project, we investigate whether this scatter depends on cluster temperature, with particular focus on the transition from galaxy groups to hotter clusters. We use low-redshift cluster and group samples from the Magneticum Box2b/hr and Box2/hr simulations to test different L_X–T models and assess how model choice and sample selection affect the inferred scatter. This framework will then be applied to the eeHIFLUGCS sample, accounting for redshift evolution and observational selection effects. I will present the current status of the analysis of temperature-dependent scatter in X-ray cluster scaling relations.
